Andrew Smith House, Nelson - Residential and Nursing Home

Overview

Andrew Smith House is a purpose built home with 60 single rooms, 33 of which en-suite, and has recently become preferred providers for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Located in Marsden Hall Road North, just off junction 13 of the M65, the home is ideally accessible. All amenities are within walking distance and the home is on a bus route.

The emphasis throughout is on homeliness and informality, ensuring residents feel happy, secure and at home. We attained an excellent rating from the CSCI at their latest Key Inspection, in October 2007.

All the rooms are spacious and comfortable, but also offer a homely and intimate atmosphere. The decor and furnishings reflect this feel throughout.

Services & Facilities

At Nelson we have a 12 bedded elderly dementia unit, which is carer led and receives nothing but positive feedback from visitors and families.

We also have provision for 7 intermediate care beds and 10 young person’s disabled beds. Our disabled beds cater for persons aged 18yrs to 65yrs, with varying physical disabilities as well as learning disabilities. This unit also has 2 contacted respite beds for this age group, which can be booked via the telephone.

The home has recently benefitted from the completion of a snoozelum; a room in which users can relax and take part in activities which aid relaxation.

We have two full time and one part time activity coordinators, here at Nelson. They ensure that service users are entertained with various outings and activities.

All fees include: room, meals, laundry and cleaning services, snacks, beverages.
